Energy Management
Principles of energy management; Organizing an energy management program: initiating, planning, controlling, promoting; Monitoring and reporting; Energy manager: qualities and functions; questionnaire and checklist for top management
UNIT 03
Energy Efficient Motors and Lighting
Energy efficient motors: factors affecting efficiency and loss distribution; Constructional details, characteristics, variable speed, voltage variation and unbalance, over-motoring; Motor energy audit; Lighting system design and practice, lighting control and lighting energy audit
UNIT 04
Power Factor Improvement and Energy Instruments
Power factor: methods of improvement and location of capacitors; Power factor with non-linear loads; effect of harmonics; power factor motor controllers; Energy instruments: watt meter, data loggers, thermocouples; Pyrometers, lux meters and tong testers
